Final Observations

In reflecting on the course theme of culture, identity, and society I relized that the readings throughout the semester spoke about the difference in individuals, in society as a whole, and in the world. The main point is that factors such as family, religion, education, culture, society, and much more contribute to how were perceive other's and we perceive our own identity. Differences in general contribute to one identity in society and in the world. The focus of the class was on writing and critical thinking that was present throughout the course in rhetorical strategies. These strategies works through attention to persona, audience, and persuasive appeals which the end goal is to persuade one to question or have new aspirations of a new identity. Most importantly, we payed attention to cultural and individual assumptions that are made with identity, to argument and fallacies, and to rhetoric and language. In addition, each of the five course strands (rhetoric and argumentation, information design and technology, research, collaboration, and the lab) all involve the connection of culture, identity, and society.
Most noticeably to me, in the course strand of collaboration one gain experience working with other to achieve a common goal and learn the social aspects of different cultures, identity, and society. To me it is the most important skill in life is interpersonal skills which involves identifying with different cultures, identities, and societies.
